The information contained in this chapter sets out good practice that should be considered by event organisers. However, it is industry guidance and does not necessarily cover everything that organisers need to consider for a particular event.
The level of medical cover needed at an event will depend on both the scale of the event and the activities taking place. At a minimum there should be a qualified first aider present as accidents can happen even at the smallest of events. Organisers need to assess the risks and put in place a level of cover that is appropriate to the event.
