Counter Terrorism

Updated: 8 December 2025

Please note: The information contained in this chapter sets out good practice that should be considered by event organisers. However, it is industry guidance and does not necessarily cover everything that organisers need to consider for a particular event.

Terrorism is not new to the United Kingdom (UK). Terrorists have targeted events for many years. On occasion they have been successful, killing and injuring many in the name of their cause.  The challenge faced in countering terrorism is most effectively managed when planning, event management, incident response safety, security and service are reviewed together.
